Digital Dreams: Turning Incarceration Into Innovation

Digital Dreams. In the spring of 2022, I stood at the crossroads of my life with a year and a half left in my prison sentence. It was then that I took a leap of faith and applied for acceptance into the Persevere Coding Program, not entirely certain of what lay ahead but driven by my tech-forward mindset. When I received that acceptance letter in May of 2022, I knew I was on the brink of something transformative. My journey into Full Stack Web Development, with a focus on MERN, began with anticipation, and I threw myself into the curriculum with unwavering commitment.

Each day was a challenge, pushing the boundaries of my knowledge and testing my perseverance. But I welcomed these challenges, understanding that overcoming them would make me stronger, more creative, and more confident. My heightened creativity and newfound conviction to lead, collaborate effectively, and assert myself in public speaking were unexpected yet profound outcomes of this journey.

With gratitude in my heart, I can proudly say that I successfully completed the intensive one-year coding program in June 2023, receiving my MERN Full Stack Web Development certification with honors. My journey continued after my release on June 19, 2023, as I embarked on a six-week on-the-job training program at Banyan Labs. There, I not only met expectations but set new standards of excellence, introducing innovative practices and platform ideas for future participants.

Today, I am in the process of re-building my future in the digital realm, combining my passions for yoga, meditation, and software design into multiple online commerce ventures. These ventures aim to be the go-to digital source for entrepreneurs, small business owners, wellness enthusiasts, and wellness content creators, providing niche-specific, reliable, all-in-one solutions. My creativity shines brightly, and my business strategies are effective, logical, and results-driven.

While I may not have reached my ultimate destination just yet, I’ve come a long way since my release from Perryville prison just a few short months ago. My LinkedIn profile reads, “Entrepreneur | CEO | SBO | Digital Business Solutions | Digital Design Strategist,” but I am much more than these titles. I am a creative, a logistical thinker, and most importantly, I am free and empowered to make a meaningful impact in the world, both creatively and digitally.

Serving others and bringing value to their lives is at the core of my entrepreneurial efforts. Web design and digital content creation bring me joy, which I am eager to share with the world. My gratitude for the Persevere Coding Program is immeasurable, for it equipped me with the tools and confidence to envision an astonishing future. And beyond all else, my deepest gratitude goes to God for the unwavering guidance and support.
